Naiise Conversations - With Lenne Chai from Aetienne.net

Say farewell to emerald green, and hello to Radiant Orchid, Pantone's colour of the year for 2014. Pantone, the world's authority on colour, describes this shade as "an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones" that "inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health."

Like every year, you can expect to see Pantone's colour of the year on practically every item on runways and store shelves, so we invited Lenne Chai, who runs fashion and photography website Aetienne.net, to curate a selection of her favourite purple-inspired items on Naiise for your homes and wardrobe.

We also spoke to Lenne and picked her beautiful, technicolored mind on how she will be incorporate Radiant Orchid into her work (and even hair!) this coming year..

1. Who is Aetienne, and how did Aetienne come about?

Hi Naiise! Aetienne is actually a dressed up homophone of my chinese name, Yi Tian. I started blogging in 2010 to unleash the pent-up verbal vomit about fashion and photography that was bubbling in my mind at that point.

I had just started to really read and understand the modern fashion industry, and I felt like my friends were sick of listening to me babble, so I needed an outlet!

It started as a place for me to chronicle my outfits and opinions on fashion and the like (this controversial post on porn culture, for instance http://aetienne.net/porn-stars-social-media-and-the-canyons/), but it eventually grew into the photography journal that it is today.

2. We love your website and the gorgeous photography. What does your styling and photography reflect your signature style?

I'm really a geeky fan girl at heart, and I think that my photography generally reflects my interests at the present moment, be it 90s' shows about witchcraft, fables/fairytales, Marvel, or even science non-fiction books! I've also been told that my photography reminds people of movie screenshots haha. (Thanks guys)

3. What is your favourite colour?

The year before it was teal, this year it was coral, I think I see a pastel trend!

4. Thank you for curating our 2014 Colour of the Year - Radiant Orchid collection. What does this shade remind you of (associations, memories, things)?

Purple was my favourite color as a child - thanks to Sailor Saturn of the popular magical girl series Sailormoon! I have a theory that everybody picks the Sailor Scout with the same hairstyle as them as their favourite, and I had a stern bob with bangs throughout my childhood.

5. Do you like this shade? Will you be incorporating this colour into your work this year?

Curating this collection has inspired me to download the eBook for The Color Purple; maybe it'll spin off a fashion editorial? Or I might simply incorporate it into my life as my new hair color...

6. How does design influence your everyday life?

I strongly believe that form affects function, and good design helps me become a lot more productive in my daily life. Totally eyeing the Lexon Galaxy Hub haha.

7. Top picks from this collection?

http://naiise.com/products/artori-pencil-end-cup
http://naiise.com/products/fancy-gem-biscuit-tote-bag - I LOVED these as a child! You should consider stocking the actual candy in Naiise, I think they'll be a hit.

http://naiise.com/products/lexon-galaxy-hub - Need. I have way too many wires on my table when I retouch photos!

8. Any tips for naiise living in the year ahead?

I'm aiming to become more realistic in my expectations about life, and I'm starting out small: Use to-do lists to schedule your day, and allocate each item a reasonable time frame. There's only 24 hours in a day, and it's good to know how much you can really do.
